IMPERIAL, Mo. – A three-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 55 near Imperial Main Street sent one man to the hospital Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, afternoon and left all vehicles with moderate damage, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. when a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by a 51-year-old woman from Festus, struck the rear of a 2017 GMC Sierra that was stopped in traffic. Investigators said the Pacifica’s driver was distracted by a handheld device at the time of the crash.
Following the initial impact, the GMC Sierra struck a concrete barrier and rotated. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 32-year-old man from Crystal City, then attempted to avoid the collision but struck the left side of the Pacifica.
The 55-year-old male driver of the Sierra, from Bonne Terre, sustained minor injuries and was transported by Rock Township EMS to Mercy Hospital South. All drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
All three vehicles were towed from the scene by Miner’s Towing.
