Festus, MO (Sept. 17, 2025) – A DeSoto woman sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on northbound U.S. Highway 67, just north of Sunnyside Road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 12:50 p.m. when an 18-year-old DeSoto man driving a 2004 Ford Taurus failed to maintain a proper lookout and followed too closely behind a 2018 Toyota Highlander, also driven by a DeSoto resident.

Troopers say the Highlander, operated by a 29-year-old woman, began slowing in response to traffic ahead. The Taurus was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the Highlander.

The woman was transported by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital Jefferson with minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Highlander was left roadside, while the Taurus was towed by Pippin’s Towing.
