FESTUS, Mo. (Oct. 10, 2025) — Crews will close North Third Street in Festus under Interstate 55 for bridge demolition beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, as part of the I-55 Corridor Upgrades project in Jefferson County, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).

The closure is required to allow for demolition of the old northbound I-55 bridge over North Third Street. Traffic on northbound I-55 has already been shifted onto a newly constructed bridge, and all lanes of I-55 will remain open throughout the weekend work.

MoDOT is encouraging motorists and pedestrians to seek alternate routes during the closure. All detours will be clearly marked. Work is weather permitting.

The I-55 Corridor Upgrades project aims to improve safety and traffic flow in the region. For more information on current and upcoming detours and project status, visit the project website at modot.org.

For real-time travel information, drivers can also check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map at traveler.modot.org/map.
