Festus, MO – A Festus man has been charged with driving while intoxicated resulting in physical injury following a February crash in Jefferson County, according to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed the criminal complaint today, Sept. 15, 2025.

David Williams, age 45, of Festus, faces a class A misdemeanor for allegedly operating a commercial motor vehicle while intoxicated on Feb. 26, 2025, on Interstate 55. Authorities say Williams caused a crash that resulted in physical injuries.

According to court documents, investigators determined Williams was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. A blood sample showed his blood alcohol content was 0.108%. The Missouri BAC limit for commercial drivers is .04%.

Prosecutors also noted that Williams is a prior offender. He was previously convicted of driving while intoxicated in Perry County for an incident that occurred on July 5, 2023. Due to the prior conviction, he is required to serve a minimum of 10 days in jail before being eligible for probation or parole if convicted.

The above charges are mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
