CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. (Nov. 14, 2025) — A Crystal City man has been charged in connection with an alleged domestic assault that occurred Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, according to documents filed by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney.

Prosecutors say they have probable cause to believe that Daniel Edwin Sauer Jr., age 41, of Crystal City, committed one or more criminal offenses stemming from an incident reported around 6:03 p.m. at a residence in Crystal City.

According to the statement of probable cause from the Crystal City Police Department, Sauer is accused of striking his ex-girlfriend in the back with a shattered mirror. Authorities reported that the woman had visible injuries on her right forearm and minor redness on her lower back. The incident occurred within the city limits of Crystal City in Jefferson County.

Sauer has been charged with one count of fourth-degree domestic assault, a class A misdemeanor under Section 565.076 of Missouri law. Prosecutors allege he attempted to cause physical pain to the victim, with whom he had been in a continuing romantic or intimate relationship.
