Pevely, MO – A 37-year-old man from Festus was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 north of Route Z, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the crash occurred on August 9, 2025 at approximately 8:42 a.m., when a 2016 Freightliner traveling southbound veered off the west side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. He was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District personnel at 9:43 a.m.
The driver, who was not wearing a safety device, has not yet been publicly identified. His body was transported by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office to the St. Louis County morgue.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Pippins Towing.
The crash remains under investigation. MSHP Sgt. Huskey, CVO Fain, Cpl. Norton, Sgt. Beard and the Pevely Police Department assisted at the scene.
