CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. (Oct. 1, 2025) — A Festus man is facing a felony drug charge after authorities say a substance found in his wallet during an arrest last year tested positive for methamphetamine.
Byron Craig McCabe, age 55, of Festus, was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant around 11:44 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2024, at the Office Bar and Grill, located at 119 Mississippi Avenue in Crystal City, according to a complaint filed by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Sept. 30, 2025.
Police said McCabe was searched incident to the arrest, and officers discovered a small plastic baggie containing a white crystal-like substance inside his wallet. The baggie was submitted to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for analysis.
On Aug. 11, 2025, lab results confirmed the substance was methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
McCabe has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony under Missouri law. Prosecutors have filed a request for a summons. The case is being prosecuted under Section 579.015 of the Missouri Revised Statutes.
