FESTUS Mo. (Sept.26, 2025) – Crews will close all lanes of northbound Interstate 55 from U.S. 67 to McNutt Street beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, through 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced.

At 5 a.m. Saturday, one lane of northbound I-55 will reopen. By 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, northbound traffic will be fully shifted onto median pavement with two lanes open.

As part of the work, entrance ramps to northbound I-55 from Route A and U.S. 61/67, as well as the exit ramp from northbound I-55 to Route A, will close at 9 p.m. Friday and remain closed until 7 a.m. Sunday. All work is weather permitting.

A signed detour will direct northbound I-55 drivers to exit at the I-55/U.S. 67 interchange and use U.S. 61/67 to rejoin I-55 at McNutt Street. Motorists on Route A and U.S. 67 will also be detoured to U.S. 61/67 to access the I-55/McNutt Street interchange.

The traffic shift onto the median pavement will allow for the demolition of the existing northbound I-55 pavement and bridges over U.S. 67, 3rd Street, and Central Avenue, scheduled for October.
