Missouri – Spectrum is offering rewards of up to $25,000 for credible information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals involved in the theft or vandalism of its communications network. This comes as the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office announced the arrest of two men who allegedly attempted to steal internet cables.
According to court documents, two Jefferson County men, Andrew Underwood and John Leach were caught cutting approximately 100 feet of telecommunications wires in August in an attempt to sell them.
The Spectrum Vandalism Reward Program is open to legal U.S. residents aged 18 and older living in Alabama, California, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Illinois. The company said the program is part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity affecting its infrastructure and service reliability.
Tips must be reported both to Spectrum at 833-404-TIPS (8477) and to local law enforcement. All reports must be credible, and reward amounts are determined solely at Spectrum’s discretion.
“Spectrum monitors its network 24/7 and will prosecute anyone who intentionally damages it,” the company said in a statement, adding that its cables do not contain valuable metals such as copper.
Spectrum stated it reserves the right to discontinue the program or deny rewards at any time. Individuals found to be abusing the program may face legal action. Reward recipients are responsible for all applicable taxes and must complete any required documentation.
